The Social Media Association (SMA) is committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive community for professionals in the field of social media. Our Code of Conduct outlines the expectations and standards of behavior for all community members to ensure a positive and respectful environment.

Principles

  1. Respect and Inclusivity:

    • Treat all community members with respect and consideration, regardless of their background, experiences, or opinions.

    • Foster an inclusive environment that values diversity and encourages collaboration.

  2. Professionalism:

    • Conduct yourself in a professional manner in all interactions within the SMA community.

    • Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity.

  3. Knowledge Sharing:

    • Encourage the free exchange of ideas and knowledge among community members.

    • Be open to learning from others and contribute positively to discussions.

  4. Confidentiality:

    • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of fellow community members.

    • Do not share sensitive information without explicit permission.

  5. Anti-Harassment:

    • Harassment, discrimination, or any form of unwelcome behavior will not be tolerated.

    • Report any incidents promptly to the SMA Board of Directors.

  6. Compliance with Laws and Regulations:

    • Members must adhere to all applicable laws and regulations governing social media and related industries.

Online Behavior

  1. Social Media Engagement:

    • When collaborating with SMA online, ensure that your behavior reflects positively on the organization.

    • Avoid engaging in any activities that could damage the reputation of SMA.

  2. Speaking and Moderation Opportunities:

    • If serving as a speaker, panelist, or moderator, act impartially and enforce guidelines consistently.

    • Handle disputes or conflicts in a fair and transparent manner.

 

Enforcement

  1. Reporting Violations:

    • Members are encouraged to report any violations of this Code of Conduct to SMA Board of Directors

  2. Investigation and Action:

    • SMA will investigate reported violations promptly and take appropriate action, which may include warnings, suspension, or expulsion.

  3. Appeals:

    • Members have the right to appeal decisions regarding violations. The appeal process will be fair and transparent.
