Position Summary
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus. This position collaborates with team members, particularly the Associate Director of Career Integrated Learning, in efforts to create programming and curriculum to grow student expertise in career readiness skills. Employee will act as point person for campus partners with questions regarding career programming. Position also provides career counseling through individual appointments and drop-in sessions with undergraduate and graduate students and will design and implement career workshops, programs, panels, and events to students. Additionally, this position provides vision, leadership, and decision-making to develop marketing and social media plans that promote the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) resources and events. The Assistant Director serves as a lead for these initiatives at Western Carolina University by developing marketing materials and publications, programming for undergraduate and graduate students, and coordinating workshops with special populations (Foundation Scholars, Honors Program, Greek Life, Student Clubs). The Assistant Director must have a “can-do” attitude and embrace developing and promoting the career-specific subject matter the CCPD produces. The Assistant Director must possess independent judgment and decision-making, superb communication and writing capabilities, strong visual design skills, knowledge of social media platforms, organizational skills, programming, and campus and community collaborations. PRESENTATION & PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (30% of the time)
Collaborate with team members, particularly the Associate Director of Career Integrated Learning, in efforts to create programming and curriculum to grow student expertise in career readiness skills
Acts as the point person for campus partners with questions regarding career programming
Serve as a CCPD liaison to faculty in assigned college (Fine and Performing Arts)
Communicate with, monitor, and make decisions regarding relationships with campus partners and student clubs
Perform outreach activities to on-campus partners to promote services and connect
Partner with other team members to develop and implement career-related events
CAREER COUNSELING (25% of the time)
Provide career counseling through individual appointments and drop-in sessions with undergraduate and graduate students
Design and implement career workshops, programs, panels, and events to students
Administer, interpret various assessment, and career decision-making instruments
SOCIAL MEDIA & MARKETING MANAGEMENT (40% of the time)
Supervise student social media team
Create social media content (text, picture, video) that is interactive, engaging, and consistent
Manage and update CCPD and DegreePlus websites and software systems with relevant career content, job/internship information, and event updates
Produce, shoot and edit video for various purposes and audiences
Create a marketing and communication plan for the CCPD that takes into consideration the overall WCU marketing concept and branding
Analyze marketing success through social media, website, and other analytics
ADDITIONAL DUTIES (5% of the time)

Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution • Previous video editing, graphic design work, and social media content creation. • Experience with Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Personnel, or related field • Knowledge of career development or experience in career services • Prior experience working in higher education • Supervisory experience • Experience in Adobe (Photoshop & InDesign) or other similar design products • Understanding of marketing analytics, including social media and Google analytics
