Instagram Reels Are The Real Deal

This past week the Social Media Association was proud to present, “Reels and Instagram”, led by Hilary Topper, CEO of HJMT Public Relations Inc. and founder of the Social Media Association. The event took place at Encore Luxury Living in Jericho, New York. For those that couldn’t make the presentation in person or who live out-of-state, the presentation was also offered on Zoom.

Those in attendance were treated to an elegant breakfast put together by our gracious hosts at Encore Luxury Living. After breakfast and some networking, Hilary discussed how many of the world’s users are on Instagram as well as how the majority of all U.S. businesses are on Instagram. Instagram is a great place to market your brand to your audience, so if you’re not there already, you should be! However, as Hilary pointed out, TikTok and Instagram Reels are now dominating the social media marketing space because short videos are in demand.

As a result of this demand, Instagram is getting away from photos and pivoting to focus more on Reels. Instagram Reels are short-form vertical videos that can be up to 90 seconds long and can be seen from all Instagram accounts on the Reels tab. To keep up with this trend and Instagram’s algorithm it becomes important for users to understand how to use and incorporate Reels into their own profile or their company’s profile in order to get more views and engagement on it.

During her presentation Hilary discussed the importance of Instagram analytics, understanding your demographics and how it relates to your brand, adding music to your Reel, and where to place your hashtags. She then showed everyone how to make their own Instagram Reel.
